IMPORTANT NOTICE – Underground Construction- Project Dundas-Greenwood

Toronto Hydro is in the process of upgrading the electrical system. The affected streets of this project are Alton Avenue, Badgerow Avenue, Curzom Street, Dagmar Avenue, Dundas Street East, Gerrard Street, Greenwood Avenue, Hiltz Avenue, Jones Avenue, Leslie Street, Mallon Avenue and Pape Avenue.
The construction will begin mid January 2011 and is tentative to be completed by late September 2011. All work of this project will take place on City property. Additionally, during the duration of the work, parking lanes will be occupied by Toronto Hydro workers which will reduce traffic to single lanes in each direction. They will do their best to minimize inconveniences during the construction.

Making Tracks to Torontonians

Making Tracks to Torontonians, a new study examining the costs and benefits of the subway extension proposed by Toronto Mayor Rob Ford in December 2010, compared to the light rail transit plan that is already underway with funding on the table was released last week by the Pembina Institute.
Toronto Environmental Alliance has issued a press release, and created a map which shows the neighbourhoods that would benefit from the development of 8 light rail transit lines vs. the neighbourhoods that would benefit from subway expansion.
