East End Bridges to Art - Carlaw Underpass Art Concepts

StreetARToronto (StART), a program of the City of Toronto, Transportation Services Division is working with the local community and Councillor Fletcher to install a mural on the east and west sides of the underpass on Carlaw Avenue at Gerrard Street East, as well as the wall facing into the parkette that connects the Carlaw Underpass and to the Gerrard Street underpass. This is the third mural in the East End Bridges to Art series.

Four proposed design concepts for art on the underpass are being considered by a local Advisory Committee.

Join us on Monday, March 2nd from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm for a community engagement drop-in event at Crow's Theatre (345 Carlaw Ave). Meet shortlisted artists Christiano De Araujo, Curtia Wright, Natasha Dichpan, Ryan Smeeton, Andrea Manica & Charles Johnston.

If you can't make it, please take the online survey. A link to each design concept is provided in the survey followed by two questions. The first question asks how strongly you would recommend the concept to the Advisory Committee, and the second question asks what would strengthen the concept for you.

This survey will be live until 11:59 pm on Sunday March 8, 2020. More information about StreetARToronto (StART) can be found here: www.toronto.ca/streetart.

Your feedback will be shared with the Advisory Committee and will be one of several aspects that will help inform their selection of a winning concept for implementation on the underpass. Constructive feedback will be shared with the artists as well.

The mural is scheduled for painting this year.
