TransformTO Public Meeting

October 30 @ 6:30 pm - 8:45 pm

The City of Toronto is inviting residents to share their ideas on actions and priorities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Toronto. Input from residents will help to inform the 2021 to 2023 implementation plan for the City’s TransformTO climate action strategy. The plan will be presented to Council in the spring of 2020.

Four public meetings will take place on the following dates and locations in October:

  • Tuesday, October 8 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall
  • Thursday, October 17 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at Warden Hilltop Community Centre, 25 Mendelssohn St.
  • Thursday, October 24 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St.
  • Wednesday, October 30 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at St. Lawrence Market Temporary North Market on 125 The Esplanade.

Toronto residents can register to attend a meeting at https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/water-environment/environmentally-friendly-city-initiatives/transformto/transformto-climate-action-strategy/community-engagement/.

The public can also provide input by completing a survey or by hosting their own community conversation. The online survey and resources to support community-hosted conversations will be available on October 7 at the community engagement web link above.

At its meeting this week, Toronto City Council will consider declaring a climate emergency and adopting a net zero greenhouse gas emissions target for Toronto. The City’s current long-term target is an 80 per cent reduction by 2050, based on 1990 levels.

Residents can sign up for e-updates on the TransformTO strategy using the link above and can obtain more information about the City’s TransformTO climate action strategy at http://www.toronto.ca/transformto.
