April 22, 2016 Mayor John Tory Office of the Mayor, City Hall 100 Queen St.
W., 2nd Floor Toronto, ON M5H 2N2 Dear Mayor Tory
Honouring Prince
The world-famous recording artist, Prince, passed away yesterday. This is not
only a tragedy for the music community but also for our City which he once
called home. Throughout his career, he had a special relationship with Toronto
whether it was with his surprise performances, his regular visits or his
affinity for Canadian musicians. Prince's attraction to our City has helped
profile our rich arts and cultural community to the world. Prince Loved
Toronto and it would be most fitting that we honour his life and contribution
to the music industry and our City by turning the TORONTO sign in Nathan
Philips Square purple. Sincerely,
Councillor Paula Fletcher
